Frequently Asked Questions- Histon & Impington Community Trishaw
1. What does it cost to have a ride?  Nothing!   Rides are free, but if you would like to make a donation towards the maintenance of the trishaw, please make a direct bank transfer to Friends of the Rec sortcode=201719 accountnumber=90224219, referencing “HI Trishaw”.
2. Who can be a passenger?  Any local resident who finds it difficult to get out and about because of limited mobility or social isolation, but would enjoy a ride round the village. People with special needs are especially welcome, accompanied by their carer.
3. My neighbour/relative/friend is lonely and would be suitable, how do I book a ride for them?  Make an online Request, or contact us on 01223 232514 or email:
4. Can I book a ride at short notice?  Yes we can take short notice bookings – so long as the trishaw is free and we have a volunteer rider available.
5. What if it rains?  The trishaw has a big cover to keep the passengers dry (not the rider though!) should it start raining. If it’s raining before your ride is due to start we will call you to see whether rescheduling is the best plan.
6. Where do the rides go?  We have standard routes along the Busway in both directions and to some local green spaces. Let us know if there’s anything in particular you would like to see. We will pick you up from where you live for the ride, and drop you off there afterwards.
7. How fast does the trishaw go?  Slowly! These rides are about gently taking in the sights, sounds and smells of our villages whilst saying hello to passers-by and chatting with your companion and the trishaw rider.
8. Can you take me and my mate home from the pub?  No 🙂 … get a taxi !
9. Do you operate all year round?  We have a break in the winter, from November to Easter.
10. Can I help?  Yes, please!  Have a look at our Volunteer page. All our riders are trained and DBS checked.
11. My business would like to sponsor you, can we do that?  Yes!  Contact us here.
12. Can my carer/partner/son/daughter/grandchild/friend ride in the trishaw with me?  Yes!  The trishaw can take two people at a time. If you don’t have anyone to take, one of our lovely volunteers will be happy to accompany you.
13. How many trishaws are there?  Just one (for now!)
